Clanton's Peach Season Is Over. Seventh Street Is Still Busy.

October 15, 2026

Most of what is on Clanton's October calendar this year has an address on Seventh Street South. Between 205 and 2300 Seventh Street South you can donate a Halloween costume to a children's hospital, spend a free Saturday at a fall market with three music acts, buy a fried pie, and pass the building a bank has bought for its first branch in Chilton County. The peach stands that bring in summer traffic from I-65 are part of that calendar too. They aren't closing up for the year.

The verified dates below come from the Clanton Advertiser, the City of Clanton, the Chilton-Clanton Public Library and the farms themselves. Anything with a soft edge, like a seasonal stock list or a listing with no date, is marked that way.

Seventh Street South, Address by Address

Here are the October stops on the corridor, in order of street number.

Address Place What's happening this fall How firm it is
205 7th St. S. Elite Salon Drop-off site for the Relay for Life Queens costume drive through Oct. 16 Dated Sept. 23, 2026 report
1106 Seventh St. S. Clanton First Assembly of God Third annual Fall Market, Oct. 17, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dated Oct. 6, 2026 report
2040 Seventh St. S. Future AmFirst branch Renovation planned to start immediately, opening expected later in 2026 Dated Sept. 22, 2026 report; no grand-opening date
2130 7th St. S. Durbin Farms Market Costume drop-off site and fall produce Drive dates confirmed; produce details undated
2300 7th St. S. Peach Park Market, cobblers, fried pies, ice cream Listed season of March through November; listing undated

That's five October stops on one road, and two of them are places most people think of as summer businesses.

A Farm Market That Doubles as a Drop-Off Point

Durbin Farms Market at 2130 7th St. S. is one of three collection sites for this year's Halloween costume drive by the Chilton County Relay for Life Queens. The other two are Elite Salon at 205 7th Street S. in Clanton and B U Fitness at 876 Dakota Road in Thorsby. The queens hold the drive every September for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and the costumes go to Children's of Alabama Hospital.

The Clanton Advertiser's report on the drive lists the rules:

  • Collection runs Sept. 21 through Oct. 16, so the last day is a little over a week away.
  • Costumes must be new, in sizes from infant to teen, for boys and girls.
  • No scary costumes. Teen costumes should be appropriate and give full coverage.
  • Hats, headbands, baby bibs and socks are welcome for children who can't wear a costume.
  • Costumes go to the hospital the week before Halloween. Children on the oncology floor get theirs first, and then other children in the hospital.

Picking a produce market as a drop-off site makes sense in October because people are already stopping there. Durbin's own site lists weekday hours of 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and that listing doesn't show weekend hours. The market's social feed shows the stock it usually carries once summer fruit is gone: pumpkins, giant jack-o'-lanterns, gourds, mums, collards, and apples brought in from Michigan. Those posts don't show a year, so treat them as what the market typically stocks in fall rather than a promise of this week's shelves.

Peach Park's Season Runs Past the Peaches

A few blocks south at 2300 7th Street South, Peach Park is listed by Alabama Tourism as open March through November, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The listing describes a fruit market with homemade ice cream, a fresh fruit bar, homemade cobblers, fried pies, a gift shop, gardens open for strolling, hickory-smoked barbecue and a playground.

On those listed hours, Peach Park stays open for weeks after the last local peaches are sold. The state tourism listing has no publication date, though, so its hours aren't confirmed for 2026. The listing points to Peach Park's Facebook page and gives the phone number as 205-755-2065, and either one is the quickest way to check before a late-season fried pie run.

October 17 at 1106 Seventh Street South

The biggest single day on the corridor this month is the Clanton First Assembly Fall Market. It runs Saturday, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church at 1106 Seventh St. S., and this is its third straight year. Admission is free.

According to the Advertiser's Oct. 6 preview, the day includes local vendors, food trucks and activities, with music from The Emmaus Road Quartet, Matt Pollard and the 20 Somethings Worship Band spread across the schedule. The church describes the market as a family day and a chance for local vendors, small businesses and ministries to meet people from across Chilton County and the surrounding area. More details are posted on the church's Facebook page.

The Fall Market is a vendor event held on the same road as the produce stands. On Oct. 17, a Saturday morning on Seventh Street South could cover the market, a stop at Peach Park and the drive back past Durbin's.

A Bank Chooses the Same Stretch

Not everything new on the corridor is seasonal. AmFirst bought the building at 2040 Seventh St. S., a former financial institution of about 3,000 square feet, and plans to turn it into a full-service branch. It will be the company's first branch in Chilton County and its 23rd location in Alabama.

The Sept. 22 report says renovation would start right away. Plans call for several offices, teller stations, a full-service drive-thru and an ITM, and the branch is expected to open later this year. No grand-opening date had been announced when the report ran.

Street numbers put 2040 between the church at 1106 and Durbin Farms Market at 2130. A business that will be open all year has chosen the same strip the peach stands rely on.

Where the Calendar Leaves the Corridor

Some of Clanton's fall happens elsewhere, and at least one long-running event has moved off downtown. Taste of Chilton County was held Oct. 5 in the conference center at Jefferson State Community College's Chilton-Clanton campus. This was its second year there after many years in downtown Clanton. The Rotary Club of Chilton County and Senior Connection run it as a fundraiser. The Rotary's share goes to the Chilton County Department of Human Resources Christmas fund for children in foster care, and Senior Connection uses its share for activities at the center.

Other dates for the rest of the season:

  1. Oct. 22, 5 to 6:45 p.m. Movie Night at the Chilton-Clanton Public Library, 100 1st Avenue.
  2. Oct. 27, 10 to 11 a.m. Toddler Time and Halloween Craft at the library.
  3. Through Oct. 31. The 2026 pumpkin patch at Penton Farms, 3595 County Road 59 in Verbena. It's open weekdays 1 to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and closed Sundays. Entry is $14 per person for ages 2 and up and includes one pumpkin from the patch.
  4. Friday, Dec. 4, 5:30 to 7 p.m. The City of Clanton Christmas parade, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Chilton County. The city's listing doesn't give a route yet.

The Rotary Club co-organizes Taste of Chilton and sponsors the Christmas parade, so its calendar covers the season from early October through the first week of December.
